# Florida CAP Prep > Independent practice for Florida's end-of-course (EOC) assessments — Algebra 1, Geometry, Biology 1 and U.S. History — plus SAT Math. Every question is written in-house to the Florida standards; none is reproduced from any official test. Not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by the Florida Department of Education. B.E.S.T. and FAST are Florida's own programme names, used here to say which standards a question is written to. ## What this service is Florida tests high-school courses with an **end-of-course (EOC) assessment** taken once, at the end of the course — Algebra 1, Geometry, Biology 1, Civics and U.S. History. That is a different thing from **FAST**, the computer-adaptive progress monitoring given three times a year (PM1, PM2, PM3) in grades 3-10 ELA and 3-8 Math. This site is practice for the EOCs. Two names that are easy to confuse and are not the same thing: - **FAST** (Florida Assessment of Student Thinking) is the *test*, and it replaced the FSA in 2022-23. - **B.E.S.T.** (Benchmarks for Excellent Student Thinking) is the *content standards*, adopted in 2020 in place of Common Core. FAST measures B.E.S.T. Results report on a five-level scale, and **Level 3, "On Grade Level", is the passing threshold for graduation credit** under Florida statute. Level 4 is Proficient and Level 5 Exemplary. The percentages on this site are our own practice thresholds, not Florida achievement levels — the two are not interchangeable and should not be quoted as one another. The Algebra 1 EOC carries a graduation requirement, and Florida is one of roughly six states that still require a mathematics exam to graduate. A concordant SAT or ACT score is an accepted alternative path for it; cut scores change, so check the current figure with the Florida Department of Education rather than relying on any third party, including us. ## Who it is for Florida students sitting an EOC — most often at the end of the course, and often retaking Algebra 1 because of the graduation requirement — and the families helping them prepare. It is self-study: there is no class to attend and no tutor. ## How these materials are made Stated because it is checkable, not as a claim about quality. - Every question is written in-house. None is reproduced, paraphrased or reconstructed from any official Florida assessment. - Questions are written to the standards the course is actually tested on — B.E.S.T. for Algebra 1 and Geometry, NGSSS for Biology 1 and U.S. History. - Questions carry a worked explanation, not only an answer key, and the explanation is written to be read by a student who got it wrong. - Wrong answers are written from specific misconceptions a student actually holds, rather than as filler. - Answer keys are audited against a recorded ledger rather than spot-checked. - Question banks are checked for tells that let a test-taker score without knowing the material — notably whether the correct option tends to be the longest, and whether answer labels are evenly distributed. - **What this cannot rehearse:** Florida delivers items in formats beyond multiple choice — drag-and-drop, equation editor, multi-select. Practice here is multiple choice, so pair it with the Department of Education's own sample items for format familiarity. Saying so is more use to a student than pretending otherwise. ## Start here - [Home](https://www.floridacapprep.com/): what the service is and who it is for. - [Subjects](https://www.floridacapprep.com/subjects): every course, with a free sample for each. - [Mock exams](https://www.floridacapprep.com/mock-exams): full-length timed papers in EOC format. - [Pricing](https://www.floridacapprep.com/pricing): current prices and what access includes. - [Guides](https://www.floridacapprep.com/blog): what each EOC is like, what a Level 3 means, and what happens if a student does not reach it. ## Courses - [B.E.S.T.
