Want to pass the Florida Algebra 1 End-of-Course (EOC) assessment? This guide covers exactly what's tested, the score you need, a proven study plan, and where to practice for free. Passing it is a Florida graduation requirement.

The passing standard: Achievement Level 3

Florida EOCs are scored on a 1–5 Achievement Level scale, not a percentage. Level 3 (“On Grade Level”) or higher is passing. Through the Credit Acceleration Program (CAP, §1003.4295, F.S.), you can even earn course credit by passing the EOC.

What's on the Algebra 1 EOC?

The Algebra 1 EOC (45–50 questions, computer-based) is built from the B.E.S.T. Mathematics benchmarks (Algebraic Reasoning, Functions, and Data Analysis & Probability). The main areas:

  • Linear equations, inequalities & functions
  • Systems of equations
  • Quadratic functions & equations
  • Exponential functions
  • Polynomials & operations
  • Data analysis, statistics & sequences

A 5-step study plan that works

  1. Start early. Retrieval practice and spaced study are the two most reliable findings in learning science — both reward starting weeks ahead, not cramming.
  2. Take a full-length mock first. Don't study blind. A full mock shows which reporting categories you're weak in.
  3. Drill your weak categories. Spend your time where you lose points, not on what you already know.
  4. Learn the format. Practice on-screen with the real question types so exam day feels familiar.
  5. Re-test to confirm. Re-take a mock near exam day — aim comfortably above Level 3.
