Volusia County Florida EOC Practice Guide: Algebra 1, Geometry, Biology 1 & U.S. History
Volusia County Schools is the Daytona Beach area district. Whichever Volusia County high school your student attends, they take the same statewide Florida End-of-Course (EOC) assessments — and the same path to passing them. This guide explains exactly what's tested, how the scoring works, when the tests are given, and where Volusia County students can practice for free.
Which EOCs do Volusia County students take?
Florida high schoolers take statewide EOC assessments in:
- Algebra 1 (B.E.S.T. Standards) — a graduation requirement
- Geometry (B.E.S.T. Standards)
- Biology 1 (NGSSS)
- U.S. History (NGSSS)
- Civics (taken in middle school)
For Geometry, Biology 1, and U.S. History, the EOC counts as 30% of the student's final course grade. The Algebra 1 EOC must be passed to earn a standard high school diploma (or met with an approved concordant score).
How do you pass a Florida EOC?
Florida EOCs are reported on a five-level Achievement Level scale (Levels 1–5), not a percentage. Level 3 (“On Grade Level”) or higher is the passing standard. Through Florida's Credit Acceleration Program (CAP, §1003.4295, F.S.), a student can even earn course credit by passing the EOC without completing the full course.
There is no district-specific percentage cutoff in Volusia County or anywhere in Florida — the Level 3 standard is set statewide by the Florida Department of Education.
When are Volusia County EOC testing windows?
Florida administers EOCs in three windows each year — Fall, Spring, and Summer — with retake opportunities. Volusia County Schools schedules its exact test dates within the state windows. Always confirm your specific test date with your school counselor or testing coordinator. EOCs are free for enrolled public-school students.
